Captain Daniel P. Habas, 31, formerly of Louisville, KY, died Monday 24 March 1980 in a crash in Bensfield, Germany.
He was born in Erie, PA on 25 August 1948, the son of Felix and Clara Habas of Louisville, KY. He moved to Louisville in 1954 with his parents. He attended St. Xavier High School and the University of Louisville, J. B. Speed School of Engineering. Captain Habas was commissioned into the U.S. Air Force on June 1, 1971. Prior to his service at Spangdahlem Air Base, Germany on January 7, 1979 he served at Mather AFB, California, Luke AFB, Arizona, Ubon AFB, Thailand, and Eglin AFB, Florida.
Survivors include his wife, the former Mary Constance Hambrick; two sons, Bryan and Paul Habas; his parents Felix and Clara Habas; a brother Philip Habas; and a sister, Mrs. Susan Habas Bowling.
Services were held April 1 1980 at St. Rita Catholic Church in Louisville, with burial in Calvary Cemetery.
